Jed goes hiking...
Jed and his foster brother Beau went hiking recently. Jed had a great time, and once both dogs figured out how to manage each other on the coupler (gadget that allows one leash to be attached to 2 dogs) things were great. Jed was friendly to everyone we met on the trail. He seemed distressed when a young hiker (about 4-5 years old) was crying and even licked the kiddo's tears away. Jed's moment actually came after the hike, when we went down to the Little Maumelle River (really just a creek) and got a drink from near the boat ramp. Jed enjoyed splashing and swimming, and generally couldn't have been happier. I took him by himself to a quieter area and he retrieved the retriever bumper like a pro. Jed now has a hobby that he is good at and enjoys.

Jed is ready for a home....

Jed is a very nice GSP boy that has been through a lot in his short life.
Let's review a list of things that have happened to Jed:
1) lives with owners
1) lives with owners
2) gets lost from owners
3) gets picked up by animal control
4) owners do not come to reclaim him from animal control
5) stays in shelter
6) stays in shelter some more
7) gets bailed out of shelter by rescuer
8) goes on LONG ride to foster home
9) arrives to foster home with strange dogs
10) goes to vet for neuter and poking and prodding
11) Jed has heartworms.
12) goes to yet another vet for painful injections of HW killing medicine
13)Jed goes back to foster home for 6 weeks of crate rest
14) Jed completes crate rest and is cleared for adoption
Ok, so this is a tall order for an ordinary dog, but Jed is extra-ordinary!! (and he's really tall, too, 28" at the shoulder to be exact...)
Jed loves kids, toys, blankets, and treats (not necessarily in that order). He is learning house manners (no galloping in the house, no counter surfing, etc) and basic commands.
Jed is about 4 years old (that's our guess, Jed lost his birth certificate when he was out running stray) and is waiting for a home. Jed does have one teensy flaw, though--he is not cat-friendly. But we love him anyway, and just need to make sure his new family does not have cats.
Stay tuned for more of Jed's adventures (these will surely be more fun than the ones he's had so far, we promise!!
